(LONDON, 23 July 2012) – Philippine Ambassador to Britain Enrique Manalo hosted a mini-press conference for the Philippines’ only Global Runner Cesar Guarin last Monday, 23 July 2012, at the chancery in London.

The press conference was held the day after Guarin finished the 2,262-kilometer Europe leg of his global run, which began in Finland and Sweden in the latter part of June and ended at the Olympic Park in Stratford last Sunday, 22 July.

In attendance were representatives from the leading Filipino media organizations based in London, including ABS-CBN.

“I am happy to congratulate Cesar Guarin’s achievement of finishing the Europe leg of his life-long mission to run around the world. It is a truly inspiring feat for Filipinos everywhere. I am quite happy too that he received a warm welcome and generous assistance from the various Filipino community groups in the several dozen cities and towns that he visited across Britain,” Ambassador Manalo remarked.

The 56-year old Guarin, who also founded the Filipino sports jersey company BOTAK, informed Ambassador Manalo that one of his primary aims for doing the run was to support the Batang Pangarap charity in the Philippines, which focuses on instilling discipline, self-confidence and excellence among streetchildren.

Guarin started his global run in 1983.  (END)
